How do you demonstrate the local need for Meals on Wheels? By using data that is reliable, relevant and rooted in your community. This session is ideal for program leaders, marketing and development staff, and communications and advocacy teams who want to better use data to inform their strategy and tell their story. In this interactive workshop, a representative from the U.S. Census Bureau will walk you through free online tools and resources to access key demographic and community-level data, like the number of older adults in poverty, living alone and who have a disability. You’ll learn what makes data “good”, why Census data is especially useful and how to find local insights that support planning, fundraising and advocacy. Bring a laptop or smart device to follow along with the data in real time.
